For the individual SEAI EWI grant, all external walls must be insulated. Insulating only the front or one side does not qualify.
For an eligible grant project, the home must meet the SEAI requirements, the homeowner applies with the MPRN, and the grant offer is accepted before work begins.
A full wrap can be a major renovation under Part L. Attic insulation or heating upgrades can form part of the project where needed to meet the required energy outcome.
Planning permission can be required depending on the house and local authority. Pre-1940 or traditional stone and brick homes need a separate moisture and fabric review.

It means insulating the outside of your home as a whole-surface solution — not just the front or one side. For the individual SEAI EWI grant, all external walls must be insulated; partial wrapping does not qualify.
The individual scheme is available to eligible homeowners and other qualifying property owners. The home must have been built and occupied before 31 December 2010, and you need its electricity meter number (MPRN). The wrap must be a whole-surface solution. You apply and get approval before work starts. After the job, a BER assessor rates the home again and paperwork is signed before SEAI pays the grant.
Sometimes. External wrap can need planning permission depending on your area and house. We flag this early; you should also check with your local authority before works begin. You get completion documents when the job is done.
